APEX Type 2 Class C Full Brim Safety Helmet

Both helmets meet ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type 2 Class C with top, side, front, and rear impact protection. The full brim version adds 360-degree coverage from sun and debris. The standard climbing-style APEX Type 2 Class C is non-vented and lighter, better for indoor or moderate-temperature work. Both use the same 6-point suspension and 4-point chin strap.

Class C means "conductive," so this helmet offers no electrical protection. The full brim shell is vented, which is fine for general construction but not safe near energized lines or electrical equipment. For electrical hazards, choose a Type 2 Class E helmet, which uses a non-vented shell for insulation up to 20,000 volts per ANSI Z89.1-2014 Class E testing.

The APEX Type 2 Class C Full Brim meets ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type 2 Class C testing, which covers top and lateral impact, penetration resistance, and chin strap retention. It also meets the European standard EN12492 for climbing helmets and is compliant with OSHA 1910.135 and OSHA 1926.100 head protection requirements (Source: OSHA.gov).

The full brim is designed to extend coverage without restricting overhead sightlines. The low-profile shell sits stable on the head, and the 4-point chin strap includes a fall protection harness-connection loop, so the helmet stays on through climbing, sudden movements, or a fall. For tight overhead clearances, the standard non-brim APEX Type 2 Class C may be a better fit.

Yes. The full brim shell has universal accessory slots that accept the Malta Dynamics face shield bracket built for full brim helmets, plus mesh face shields and elastic headlamps. Note that the helmet-mounted earmuffs fit the standard (non-full brim) APEX shell only. Accessories sold separately.
