Follow these pre-use inspection tips to keep your Leading Edge fall protection system in good condition for years to come: 1. Examine Metal Components Before using your Leading Edge SRL, inspect the: Fall indicator: The fall indicator is located at your SRL's connection point. If it has been tripped, you'll see a red indicator. You should not use the device if the fall indicator is tripped. Snap hook: Check to make sure the SRL's snap hook opens and closes correctly. Press on the gate to confirm it can't be forced open and ensure the snap hook isn't bent or deformed in any way. 2. Perform a Strike Test To test your SRL's braking mechanism, grip the handle and quickly pull down on the cable. Place all the force above the fall indicator so you avoid accidentally triggering it. If the brakes don't engage, you should remove the SRL from service.
