Full Body Harness Safety
Why You Need a Safety Harness From Malta Dynamics
Do you need a full body fall protection harness with a lanyard? You’ll find Warthog® and more here at Malta Dynamics. We offer comfortable, safe harnesses and safety gear that meet rigorous Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) requirements. We prioritize your safety with our products, including our full body harnesses with lanyards, harness accessories and other offerings. Find out more about our products and what makes Malta Dynamics a standout in the industry.
Why You Need a Full Body Safety Harness
Fall protection is vital for physical protection and keeping your business compliant with OSHA requirements. Full body harnesses are part of personal fall arrest systems that stop a fall from becoming a casualty. Falls contribute significantly to workplace injuries and death. One in five on-the-job injuries happens from a fall. Unfortunately, more than half of those killed did not have fall protection gear, and almost a quarter did not properly use their safety gear.
At Malta Dynamics, we set ourselves apart from the competition through our customer service and quality products for the price. Our products include a selection of full body harnesses for construction, lanyards, anchors, self-retracting devices and more. By using our fall protection products, you can help ensure your business meets regulatory compliance with OSHA standards, keep employees safe from harm and protect your business from downtime caused by workplace accidents.
Different Fall Protection Harness Types
There are three main types of safety harnesses based on the type of leg buckles — pass-through, tongue and buckle, and quick connect:
1. Pass-Through Harnesses
Our pass-through full body harnesses include the Warthog Pass-Thru Harness that uses a latch for connection at the legs. This design features breakaway lanyard keepers that prevent these parts from disrupting work. This harness has options to accommodate a wide range of workers, with sizes from XS to 3XL.
If your business needs economic safety harnesses that won’t break your budget, pass-through full body harnesses are the best option. Ours are OSHA and ANSI compliant while offering a cost-effective solution for fall arrest protection.
2. Tongue and Buckle Safety Harnesses
The leg connections on tongue and buckle safety harnesses resemble those found on belts used for clothing. These secure connections can be tightened and adjusted easily. An example of this full body harness type is the Warthog Tongue and Buckle Harness. The harness on this model includes customization options that permit users to make notes or add information without causing damage to the webbing. Like the pass-through Warthog model, this option comes in sizes XS to 3XL.
3. Quick Connect Full Body Harnesses
To get a harness on quickly and effortlessly, you want a quick connect full body safety harness. Our Warthog Comfort MAXX Belted Side D-ring Harness includes quick connection points at both the legs and chest. The quick connections that reduce the time required to put this harness on also feature a removable waist belt and padding throughout for maximized comfort.
Why Is Malta Dynamics the Leader in the Industry?
Unlike other full body harness manufacturers, we not only design and manufacture our devices — we also use them. Our team members have more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. That experience informs how we design our full body safety harnesses and other fall protection equipment. Because we’ve worn uncomfortable safety equipment in the past, we produce comfortable harnesses and other fall protection devices that meet and exceed OSHA requirements. For safety and comfort, you cannot beat the options we have here at Malta Dynamics.
How Does a Full Body Harness Work?
Full body harnesses are the only accepted form of personal fall arrest protection you can use. These harnesses connect with hardware to safety lines that stop you from falling to the ground. Their design reduces the impact you feel when the harness supports your body weight during a fall.
What Is a Full Body Harness?
A full body harness includes straps that provide support at the shoulders and around the legs. Some models have a waist belt, too. There are several types of uses for full body harnesses. Ours are for use as fall arrest protection or as part of a positioning system, restraint device or for rescue.
What Does a Full Body Harness Fall Arrest System Do?
A properly adjusted full body harness should protect against harm from falls based on the harness’s use. For example, for personal fall protection, the harness and accompanying lanyards connected to approved anchorage must not allow falls greater than 6 feet. For positioning, you should not have a free fall of more than 2 feet. Rescue and restraint systems cannot allow any free falling.
To ensure your full body harness fits correctly, follow these steps for putting it on:
- Shake the harness out and unfasten any straps.
- Slip the straps over your shoulders to place the D-ring in the center of your back.
- Put your legs through the leg straps one at a time, and attach the straps to the connector. Leg connections should be snug and create a seat in the rear if you pull up your legs.
- Fasten the waist belt snugly, if your harness has one.
- Connect the chest strap 6 inches to 8 inches below your throat but against the breastbone.
Which Full Body Fall Protection Harness Do You Need?
At Malta Dynamics, we have harnesses for all types of users, from beginners to the most advanced. Those with simple needs for full body harnesses can use the most economical versions of pass-through harnesses. However, those with more harness requirements who use them for various applications should consider advanced models, such as the Razorback Elite Sternal D-Ring Harness. This model features D-rings at the chest, back and sides for greater versatility or use when climbing.

Fall Harness FAQs
Read on to see some of our most frequently asked questions about fall protection equipment and harnesses:
1. When Should I Buy Fall Harnesses?
Construction teams require fall harnesses and fall protection equipment any time individuals will be at working heights of 6′ or higher. This OSHA requirement is under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Check out other trigger heights that necessitate fall protection equipment in various industries below:
- General industry jobs require fall protection equipment at heights of 4′.
- Workers in shipyards should have fall protection at heights of 5′.
- Professionals working in controlled decking areas must have fall protection equipment at heights of 30′.
2. How Much Does a Fall Protection Harness Cost?
Prices for fall protection harnesses change depending on style, features and manufacturing materials. Most domestic products sit within the $40-$60 price range, but some harnesses can be several hundred dollars based on the features you require for success. Malta Dynamics sales representatives are happy to work with you when deciding on a harness style and fit that would work best for your applications.
3. How Long Should a Fall Protection Harness Last?
Malta Dynamics safety harnesses do not have expiration dates. It is up to a competent person on your construction site to decide whether a harness is suitable for use. The life expectancy of your purchases will depend on multiple factors such as the weather conditions the equipment will be in, how your employees handle harnesses and the overall quality of the materials.
Storing full body safety harnesses indoors in a controlled environment will help to keep your purchases in good condition for as long as possible. Additionally, making sure your workers are thoroughly trained on how to fasten their equipment will keep harnesses working correctly.
4. Can Safety Harnesses Be Used After a Fall Occurs?
Once impact loading takes place, fall protection harnesses must be removed from a site immediately. The competent person on your site must inspect the equipment to ensure it is undamaged before anyone can use that harness again. OSHA requires businesses to follow this protocol for the well-being of employees.
5. How Do I Know a Safety Harness Fits Correctly?
Your safety harness will ship with manufacturer instructions for using the equipment. All harnesses are slightly different, but you can use the following steps to fasten a full body safety harness:
- Pick up your harness by the back D-Ring.
- Ensure that materials and straps sit straight and are untwisted.
- Position the harness over your head and shoulders so that each shoulder strap runs vertically across your chest.
- Pick up the leg straps and fasten them to each buckle near your hips.
- Lock the chest strap in place.
- Adjust the shoulder straps to the same lengths. Make sure there is no slack on the straps.
- Look to see that the back D-Ring is directly between your shoulder blades.
A fall protection harness should fit close to the body without limiting movement. Ensure you can slide your fingers below your leg straps to encourage circulation.
6. How Much Weight Can Malta Dynamics Safety Harnesses Support?
Malta Dynamics offers safety harnesses with a maximum weight capacity of 310 pounds per OSHA regulations and ANSI standards. This weight must account for the clothing and tools a worker has on them, too. Rest assured knowing we sell safety harnesses with the highest weight capacity recognized by the Accredited Standards Committee.
7. Is There a Way to Wash My Full Body Safety Harness?
You can clean Malta Dynamics fall protection harnesses with a mild soap, sponge and water. Remove surface dirt by wiping a wet sponge across polyester materials. Scrub safety harness materials with mild soap or detergent to lift stubborn grime. Rinse your harness after scrubbing and allow the equipment to dry by hanging it up in an open area out of direct sunlight.
8. What Should I Wear Under a Safety Harness?
The fall protection harnesses available through Malta Dynamics do not have specific clothing requirements you should wear underneath the gear. Our experts recommend users wear loose-fitting pants and shirts that allow for natural movement. Our safety harnesses for sale may come in direct contact with the skin, but your employees may find it more comfortable to have clothing between the harness straps and skin to prevent irritation.
9. What Safety Harness Colors Are Available?
Malta Dynamics carries full body safety harnesses in orange and black shades. The polyester materials are easy to see from far away, so you can make sure your workers are wearing the equipment they need to maximize safety on the job.
