It makes a great complement to our safety harnesses and harness accessories
The Malta Dynamics D-Ring extension can improve ease of use for fall arrest and fall restraint systems, allowing for quick attachment and release when needed. It is only intended for these two applications and is not suitable for work positioning, suspension or rescue.
Things to Know Before Using a D-Ring Extension
Lanyard and retractable extenders can be a valuable part of a fall or restraint system, but only if used appropriately. As with most pieces of equipment, you'll need to thoroughly inspect the safety harness D-Ring extension for any damage, excessive wear or soiling from contaminants. Ensure all hardware works correctly and that the snap hook gate can stay closed and locked. Webbing must be free of cuts, fraying and wear.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind when using safety harness extenders:
Training: All employees using the D-Ring extender or other fall protection systems must be trained for appropriate use by a Competent Person as defined by OSHA.
Free fall distance: Remember to factor in the extender's length when calculating fall clearance. The D-Ring extension will increase a user's potential free fall distance and will need to be included in calculations regarding deceleration distance and connecting subsystems length.
Arrest forces: When used in a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS), the D-Ring extenders should be employed with other components that limit maximum arrest forces to 1,800 pounds (8 kN) or less. For fall restraint systems, the D-Ring extension can help prevent workers from reaching a hazard but should not be used for vertical free fall.
Falls on the worksite: Remove the equipment from service if a fall occurs.
Anchorage strength: Ensure anchorage strength requirements are met based on certification and application.
Connector compatibility: Ensure all connectors used are compatible with the Malta Dynamics D-Ring Extender and your application. Avoid connecting multiple snap hooks or carabiners to one D-Ring. Other inappropriate connections include a snap hook connected to an integral lanyard or to a horizontal lifeline. See the product manual for more information on connections.
These points are general guidelines. Please read the user manual and any applicable standards for more comprehensive use instructions and information based on your application.

Why Wearing a Construction Helmet is Crucial for Workplace Safety
The importance of wearing a construction helmet in work environments, especially those regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is reinforced by several statistics. According to the 2015 edition of the National Safety Council's "Injury Facts" chartbook, over 65,000 workplace incidents in 2012 involved head injuries requiring days off work. In the same year, head injuries resulted in the deaths of 1,020 construction workers.
Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) stand out as the most common type of head injury in the workplace. In the construction industry alone, TBIs were responsible for 2,200 fatalities between 2003 and 2010.
However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) surveyed worksite accidents and injuries revealing a concerning trend: 84% of workers who suffered head injuries were not wearing protective headgear. This statistic highlights the critical role that not wearing construction helmets plays in the higher risk of severe head injuries and fatalities in the workplace.
Traditional Hard Hat vs Construction Safety Helmet
A traditional hard hat, is like a bike helmet, offering basic protection against impacts and falling objects, while an industrial helmet, is like a motorcycle helmet in design, providing enhanced coverage and stability. The safety helmet's full coverage design ensures better side and rear head protection, a feature not typically found in the standard hard hat. Additionally, construction safety helmets often include integrated accessories for increased protection, a step up from the more basic industrial head protection offered by traditional hard hats.
Buy a Safety Helmet With a Visor
Adding a visor to a safety helmet can make it easier for your employees to do their jobs. Standard safety glasses often need to be repositioned, but a visor keeps the lens completely off your face, freeing up your hands and eliminating pressure behind your ears.
A clear or tinted visor is the perfect accessory for your Malta Dynamics Safety Helmet. Our visors are made from high-strength plastic and meet the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 impact rating standard. The tinted visors are 99% ultraviolet (UV)-resistant, offering eye protection from the sun’s powerful rays.
What’s more, these visors are easy to use and maintain. They have a hinge feature that allows you to adjust the visor, so it’s there when you need it and stowed away when you don’t. They also have an anti-scratch lens with a rimless design that’s easy to clean — just use warm water and soap.
Our Safety Helmets Are Field-Tested and Worker-Approved
Our core value is selling field-tested, worker-approved safety systems.
When you buy Malta Dynamics Safety Helmets, you are investing in the ultimate safety of your workers; assuring they are safe, comfortable, and compliant while wearing them. Our crew uses all of our safety equipment in the field and provides feedback to help us make our products as user-friendly and efficient as possible. How to Inspect Your Self Retracting Lifeline Correctly
Inspecting your equipment is an essential action when ensuring safety. There’s no point in wearing a lifeline if it’s going to fail when you need it. Using old or inadequate safety materials can have a detrimental outcome if a fall occurs. It’s important to inspect your gear prior to each and every use; your life is literally on the line, so take the time to examine your equipment.
Here are some tips on how to successfully check over your self-retracting lifeline.
Examine Metal Components
The Fall Indicator: located at the connection point on your SRL. When the force indicator has been tripped, it indicates that fall-like impact forces have been applied on the self-retracting lifeline. If the fall indicator has been tripped, you will see a red indicator at the connection point and the device should be immediately removed from service.
The Snap Hook: Ensure the mechanism opens and closes properly. Press on the gate to confirm it cannot be forced open. Please check to validate that the snap hook is not bent or deformed in any way.
Inspect the Housing:
Ensure all fasteners are present and tight.
Inspect the label for serial number, batch number, manufacture date and part number.
Inspect the Cable:
If the cable gets tangled in the housing, it is no longer adequate for arresting a fall.
Inspect the entire length of the cable for cuts, burns, frays, kinks, or tears.
Perform a Strike Test:
Grip the handle and quickly pull downward on the cable, place all the force above the fall indicator so you do not accidentally trigger it.
This will test the braking mechanism of your SRL.
If you follow these tips and perform regular inspections, you will keep your SRL healthy for years of use. We also have handy downloadable safety inspection forms to help guide you through your SRL examination.

SKU: LE7030-G2. A self-retracting lifeline is designed to limit the shock load to the body of a worker by limiting the distance of a fall. This makes them attractive pieces of equipment to use as a lifeline while working at heights, but not all fall hazards are the same. When working near a leading edge, a standard portable SRL is not an adequate choice. The components of most SRLs are not tested to stand up to the sharp edges that could be encountered when you tie-off at foot level. At Malta Dynamics, we have developed a range of leading edge fall protection systems to allow the worker to enjoy all the perks of using a self-retracting lifeline.
The Leading Edge 30’ SRL with snap hook features a 360° swivel top connection point that allows the durable thermoplastic housing to rotate as you move and boasts a sturdy galvanized steel cable with built-in strike test grip. The SRL extends as the user moves away from the anchor point and retracts as the user moves back toward the anchorage point. The ANSI Class 2 rating features a versatile design, allowing for use above and below the back D-Ring. The Malta Dynamics Leading Edge Self-Retracting Lifeline with Snap Hook is tested to meet the strict standards of ANSI Z359.14-2021 Class 2, ANSI A10.32-12, OSHA 1926 Subpart M and OSHA 1910.
