Multi-Directional Impact Protection
Type 2 Safety Helmets
Type 2 safety helmets protect against impacts to the top, front, back, and sides of the head, reducing the risk of head injury and brain trauma from lateral blows. Unlike a traditional hard hat, the APEX Type 2 helmet features an advanced suspension system and reinforced outer shell that absorbs and disperses impact energy from multiple directions.
ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type 2 Certified
Top, front, back, and side impact protection
EPS foam liner for enhanced energy absorption
Electrical Hazard Protection
Type 2 Class E Safety Helmets
Type 2 Class E helmets combine multi-directional impact protection with high-voltage electrical insulation. Tested up to 20,000 volts, these helmets protect electrical workers and utility crews from both impact hazards and accidental contact with high-voltage conductors.
High-voltage protection tested to 20,000 volts
Non-vented design maintains electrical integrity
Ideal for utility and electrical work
Ventilated Comfort
Type 2 Class C Safety Helmets
A Class C safety helmet prioritizes ventilation and lightweight comfort while providing full multi-directional impact protection. Adjustable venting allows airflow to reduce heat buildup and keep a dry, cooler helmet during long shifts on hot jobsites where electrical hazards are not present.
Vented shell for airflow
Lightweight design for all-day comfort
Full Type 2 impact protection

ANSI and OSHA do not require chin straps on Type 2 helmets, but we recommend them for work involving heights, climbing, or situations where sudden movements could dislodge the helmet. All APEX Type 2 helmets include chin strap attachment points, and chin straps are included with select models.
Replace helmets immediately after any significant impact, even if no damage is visible. For helmets that haven't sustained impacts, manufacturers typically recommend replacement every 2-5 years depending on exposure to sunlight, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Check the manufacture date inside the helmet and inspect regularly for cracks, dents, or degraded suspension components.
Yes. APEX Type 2 helmets are designed to work with our face shield brackets, toric face shields, mesh face shields, and helmet-mounted earmuffs. The slotted design and weight-compensating brackets allow you to add eye, face, and hearing protection without compromising fit or comfort.
Class E (Electrical) helmets are tested to protect against electrical contact up to 20,000 volts and feature non-vented designs to maintain insulation. Class C (Conductive) helmets offer no electrical protection but provide better ventilation for hot environments. Choose Class E for electrical work and Class C when electrical hazards are not present and cooling is a priority.
Type 1 helmets protect against impacts to the top of the head only. Type 2 helmets protect against impacts to the top, front, back, and sides of the head. If your crew faces lateral impact hazards from swinging loads, low clearances, or slip and fall risks, Type 2 helmets provide more comprehensive protection. Read more about the difference.
